The poems published in this book were taken from POEMS by Boris Pasternak (Antioch Press), translated from the Russian by Eugene M. Kayden and revised by him for this special edition.
The order of the poems is by Boris Pasternak
For reasons of length, Fairy Tale and Parting have been omitted from this edition.
Thus, within the framework of his magnificent novel Dr. Zhivago, Boris Pasternak created these evocative poems attributed to his title character, Yuri Zhivago.
He wrote of the joy of love, the pain of parting and the hope of religious experience.
As an integral part of the book, Pasternak's poems illustrate Zhivago's view of the world.
